Trace - series
Paleobotany is the study of plant fossils, the lithified remains of life, usually found in sedimentary rock. Traces of organic matter once living are used to unravel and reconstruct ancient ecological systems in time and space. Telling the story of the most fundamental organisms on the planet, without which life would not exist.
My work is an imagined fossilised impression of some of the plant life existing today. It serves to illuminate and record this moment in time. This ‘forest’ shines light on the beauty and intricacy of nature that surrounds us today but also alludes to its fragility.
Trace columns are available individually ranging from $750 to $1,800 please get in contact for a studio visit.
